We Keep An Eye On Your Vision

Eyesight is our dominant, most high-functioning sense. As such, it is important to regularly monitor vision and ocular health. At Alluminate Eyecare, our eye exams are comprehensive and detailed – we leave nothing to chance when it comes to your eyes.

Adult Exams: Age 20-64

For our adult patients, we recommend a regular eye exam every year in order to keep your eyes in the best shape possible.

In addition to visual acuity and refractive testing, we thoroughly assess your eyes for potential eye diseases. Many forms of eye diseases don’t show symptoms until the condition is in an advanced state – by which time vision may be compromised and management becomes more challenging.

Our modern clinic is equipped with the latest advanced technology, including robotic retinal imaging, a device that provides remarkably clear and detailed retinal images for better detection and monitoring of eye abnormalities.

Senior Exams: Age 65+

As we approach our senior years, our eyes have lived a long and active life.

For that reason, booking annual eye exams is increasingly important. In addition to ensuring our eyesight is functional for driving and everyday tasks, senior eyes are susceptible to a number of age-related vision conditions that have the potential to cause serious vision loss. These include cataracts, glaucoma, and age-related macular degeneration.

If caught early, these eye diseases may be managed and treated appropriately. So, the need for regular, thorough eye examinations is absolutely necessary.

People who are 65 years and older are covered under OHIP for a routine eye exam by an optometrist once every 12 months, plus any follow-up assessments that may be required.

Our Eye Exam Process

At Alluminate Eyecare, it is important that we get a thorough and detailed idea of your overall medical history and eye health, as we move through the examination. Your family history, current health concerns, and medications are thoughtfully discussed.

Using an array of tests, we’ll evaluate and measure your eyes for:

  • Visual acuity (clarity and sharpness)
  • Visual field (blind spots and peripheral vision)
  • Eye coordination and movement
  • Depth perception
  • Colour vision
  • Eye pressure
  • Corneal health
  • Eye diseases
